September 17, 2012 - Toronto (ON): The editors are thrilled to announce the launch of the introductory issue of Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education & Society, a new online, peer-reviewed, Open Access journal.
Decolonization looks to center Indigenous ways of being and thinking in efforts to challenge dominant ideologies and to support the resurgence of Indigenous knowledges, epistemologies, and communities.
This first issue includes scholarship on Indigeneity from around the globe, including Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United States. Topics span multiple disciplines and address many sites of contestation such as ecological degradation, schooling and education, political solidarity, and everyday acts of resurgence. Each article centers Indigenous ways of being and seeks pathways toward decolonization.
The first issue and each article is freely available to all to at www.decolonization.org
Decolonization has also put out a call for submissions for the second issue, which will be published in March 2013, and can be viewed here.
